弘法伝説に始まり、百宅又鬼、民俗芸能と多くの伝統文化が生まれた地が2028年湖の底に沈む。
Yurihonjō City in southern Akita Prefecture – a dam is scheduled for completion here in 2028.
The village of Momoyake is to be submerged at the bottom of the lake behind the dam.
This village is where many legends, including the influential Buddhist monk Kobo Daishi, and a unique culture based on indigenous beliefs have been nurtured.
The appearance of this small village, lying between the mountains, is changing every day as the construction of the dam progresses.
